As a way of building an informal group of people interested in art & lettering, calligraphic design and allied arts Gemma set about finding a community space to that end. The Shed  is an informal group of friends with no committees to be drafted on to.  Just pure enjoyment delving into lettering, art & craft.

Called The Lettering & Arts Shed, it is located at the Northern End of the Kingston Beach Oval, on the oval, accessed via Kingston Beach Hall laneway or via Oval entrance via Ewing Street. The small building is the home of the Kingborough Women’s Club and owned by the Kingborough Council. Parking is in the Oval Grounds off Recreation Street.

How it all works:

Join the Lettering and Arts Shed Facebook Page.
Meeting days are Thursdays, 10am to 4pm. Margaret & Gemma are the keeper of the keys.
Membership of the Kingborough Women's Club is required at $30 per annum making all meetings free to attend.
You bring your own themes (calligraphic or allied) & materials to work on.

There are on occasion one to two hour tutorials you may join, always with a great topic.
If you want to learn a new hand or technique there are exemplars and samplers in the Lettering Cupboard to choose from. Related books & magazines are on hand to delve into. You are not committed to come all the time, you come for whatever hours and days your own time permits.  If you are relatively new to calligraphy & the lettering arts, you will be more than welcome and we can discuss a path or paths to take.
